Last month, the BMW roared in the US luxury sales market. The luxury cars brand has overtaken Mercedes-Benz’s sales. According to reports from the BMW group, the automaker has posted a 29 increase in sales selling 21,204 units last February. The 3-series sedan delivered a gain of 66 percent.
On the other hand, the sales of Mercedes only rose by 17 percent or unit sales totaling 18,080 during the same time period. Meanwhile, the Lexus brand from Toyota Motor Corp. only had sales of 16,678 or a modest 21 percent increase.
According to a forecast by an auto industry analyst, the 3-series sedan will continue to lead the luxury car race for the next several months which gives BMW the upper hand for this year. Interestingly, BMW’s remodeling and updating of its car models came after Mercedes’ updated the C-class version of compact sedan. For the past months, BMW has been outpaced by Mercedes thus prompting BMW to update its car design. Hence, it paved off allowing the luxury car brand to be at par with its closest rival. In just a couple of months after the official release of BMW’s new car models, sales of Mercedes were obviously affected, eventually BMW took the lead.
