Despite the grim economic outlook, Hyundai’s February global sales increased by 28 percent compared to the same time period last year. The growth is attributed to the strong demand of the overseas market which offset the sluggish sales at home. People looking for cheap cars but with proven quality consider Hyundai cars as one of the options. Different car models from this South Korean automotive mogul suit the needs of the market. There are car models which are specifically designed to meet preferences of the global auto industry.
The Veloster, the Elantra and the Sonata were the top three models preferred by the international market. Hyundai’s February sales reached its record monthly high with sales posting 18 percent in a market that was up 16 percent.
Hyundai has yet to reveal statement and record of its sales on other markets. Although sales of the South Korean auto manufacturer have increased, it still falls behind its closest rivals Honda and Nissan.
Both the US and UK market has posted an increase in the demand for cheap cars , among the most popular cheap car brands are those exported from South Korea and China. Perhaps, this increase on sales signals the revitalization of the auto industry. At the same time, it also reflects a changing consumer attitude. Because of the poor economic outlook, car buyers are looking for economical cars but are functional.
Hyundai and its affiliate Kia Motors are the duo controlling the South Korean auto market. Their combined sales comprise roughly 80 percent of the market. However, the domestic auto market is somewhat sluggish. Furthermore, the free-trade deals of the Korean government with the US and the UK has flooded the market with imported car brands. Domestic competition is expected to be tight in the coming years.
